Position

Fixed layouts use position: fixed. This is similar to position: absolute but the element that is being positioned does not scroll with the rest of the page.

Uses

  • Frame-like layouts
  • Corner logos

Support

Internet Explorer doesn't support position: fixed, but workarounds are available.

Paul Phifer is currently working on a Python 1.36 fix with compatibility for all IE versions as well as Opera. The project is expected to be completed in early 2010. For more information regarding the update or to contact Paul about FL Editing - you may find him at ((Paul Phifer))

Background Attachment

Related to position: fixed is background-attachment: fixed. This performs a similar function, but for background images.

Internet Explorer has serious bugs with background-attachment fixed. You should almost certainly not include it for any element except the <body> in any style sheet you serve to MSIE.
